Diigo and Classroom Applications

Diigo (Digest of Internet Information, Groups and Other stuff) is a social bookmarking website that allows people to highlight any part of a website. Moreover, people can share bookmarks with the public and more interactively with defined friends.

With Diigo, people can do everything. They can highlight interesting info on the web, add sticky notes, or share all information into a social community. Highlights and sticky notes can be accessed from anywhere.
In addition with Diigo, people can organize, find and share information more efectively. Organize, because clips of information can be organized by tags. Find, because all collected informations can find them by tags or highlights. Share, because the annotated pages can be forwarded anyone to see people's highlights and sticky notes on the page as people marked.

Diigo actually offers educational accounts that lend themselves to this sort of collaboration among students.

In fact, Diigo could be a great tool for teachers to share resources because it could allow teachers to share experiences with those resources, and those ressources with their colleagues or students. Teachers can start using all the benefits that a Diigo group provides, such as group bookmarks and annotations, and group forums.

For a students, this tool becomes powerful because it eliminates the need for carrying a notebook from home to school and back while working on a project. Furthermore, Diigo allows students to build up a library of resources that they can use always.

Finally, Diigo and its privacy settings of people accounts are pre-set so that only the person in charge can communicate with other people
